Born in Thieytou, Central Senagal, Afica – 1923-1986, the elder Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop of Muslim Wolof family. The elder Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop was a Senegalese historian, anthropologist, physicist, and politician who studied the histories and cultures of Africa and the African diaspora, particularly in relation to Egypt. He is known for his work on the pre-colonial history of Africa and the role of Egypt in the development of Africa and the world. He also wrote extensively on issues of race and racism, and advocated for the recognition and empowerment of African peoples.
Cheikh Anta Diop is best known for his research on the ancient history of Africa, particularly Egypt, and the role of Egypt in the development of Africa and the world. He argued that ancient Egypt was a Black civilization, and that the ancient Egyptians were primarily of Negro-African origin. He used linguistic, anthropological, and genetic evidence to support this claim. He also wrote extensively about the contribution of ancient Egypt to the development of science, technology, and culture in Africa and the world. Additionally, he argued that the history of Africa has been deliberately distorted by European colonialism and racist ideologies, and that it is important to correct this distortion in order to understand the true history of Africa and the African diaspora.
